THUNDER BAY WELCOMES a world adventurer who has plied every nautical quarter of the world’s oceans! As a retired ice pilot, ice navigation specialist, author and retired Coast Guard Canada officer, Captain Toomey is handing over-the-watch.
A tour-guide for 22 years at the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes in Kingston, Toomey will share his Alexander Henry experiences, which at one time served as a former Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker, buoy tender, and lighthouse supply ship.
His worldwide experiences as an ice pilot in both Arctic and Antarctic for many years will entertain both the assembled seafarers and non-mariners at the 2nd Annual Lakehead Transportation Museum Society fundraising dinner.
Come hear him give a final salute from the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes in Kingston, to Henry.
